Service Experiences:
Professor, Department of Applied Physics, Electronics & Communication Engineering, University of Dhaka and Director, Renewable Energy Research Centre, University of Dhaka

Research Experiences:
Director, SWERA – Bangladesh (UNEP/GEF)
Director, Water Pumping for Irrigation using Solar Energy, Ministry of Science and Information & Communication Technology, Research on Solar Thermal Systems, Selective surface coating and PV. Important among them are solar and wind energy resource assessment, development of solar water pumping using indigenous technology for irrigation and development of new selective coating. Participated in conferences and worked in India, UK, Germany, Italy and Thailand. 50 research papers published in national and international journals including 13 papers published in national and international journals like Solar Energy, Renewable Energy, Energy Conversion and Management, International Journal of Energy Research, Applied Optics, etc. Recently, I submitted a report on renewable energy in Bangladesh in Bangkok at a meeting of experts organized by ESCAP.

Social and Political Role:
I Was a Central Leader of Students’ League and Swadhin Bangla Chhatra Sangram Parishad. Took part in the Liberation War was BLF. After killing of Bangabandhu, I played a vital role in organizing the students and youths and was imprisoned for 2 years. To strengthen the secular and democratic movement initiated by Bangabandhu and led by Sheikh Hasina, I organized the religious minorities. I organized the freedom fighters and a common platform was formed. This led to the formation of the Sector Commanders Forum. During the rule of the Caretaker Government, I was arrested and imprisoned. After being released, I toured across the country and campaigned to ensure the rights to vote of the minorities and victory of the Grand Alliance in the last election.
