Observance of the 94th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation and National Children’s Day 2014

The Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal celebrated the 94th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day on 17th March, 2014 with due dignity and festivity.

 

The day’s programme began by placing of floral wreaths in front of the portrait of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Chancery by the Ambassador and officers and members of the Staff of the Mission, visiting Justices of the Supreme Court and a delegation from Holy Cross College, Dhaka Messages of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Foreign Minister on this occasion were read followed by ‘Doa Mahfil’ where all present prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and the martyred members of his family and also for a prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as envisioned by the Father of the Nation. Blessings were also sought for the eternal peace of the souls of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the glorious War of Liberation in 1971.

 

The second part of the programme consisted of a discussion session which began with reading out of an essay highlighting the significant events of the life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman followed by recitation of a poem dedicated to Bangabandhu penned by renowned poet Nirmalendu Goon. A discussion session followed which was presided over by the Ambassador, during which the speakers recalled the achievements, contributions and the life-long sacrifices of Bangabandhu which culminated in the emergence of an independent and sovereign Bangladesh as his great affection for children. In her speech, the Ambassador paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled his great contribution for the future of children of Bangladesh.

 

The programme was attended by H.E. the Ambassador, offices and members of the staff of the Mission, representatives of the SAARC secretariat, visiting Justices of the Supreme Court, delegation from Holy Cross College, Dhaka and the expatriate Bangladesh community living in Kathmandu.
