Rabindra Nazrul Jayanti 2014

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu observed ‘Rabindra Nazrul Jayanti’ on 2nd June, 2014 celebrating the 153rd birth anniversary of Biswa Kabi Rabindranath Tagore and 115th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.


The Mission organized a cultural programme to mark the occasion which began with a short introductory statement highlighting the important achievements of the two literary giants. The highlight of the evening’s cultural programme was a performance by a troupe of seven renowned artistes, namely, Ms. Fatema Tuz Zohra, Mr. AMM Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury, Ms. Nilufar Ahmed, Mr. Pallab Sanyal, Mr. Ruptanu Das Sharma, Mr. Ataur Rahman Mohon and Mr. Uday Hakim from Bangladesh who rendered selected Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti which was greatly appreciated by the audience. There were two dance performances with Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti by Mr. Ataur Rahman Mohon and Ms. Nilufar Ahmed. The programme concluded with a short concluding speech on Rabindranath Tagore and Nazrul Islam by H.E. the Ambassador.


The programme was attended by H.E. the Ambassador and other officials of the Mission, Ambassadors and other diplomats of the foreign Missions in Kathmadnu, high Nepalese dignitaries, members of the civil society, representatives of the Nepalese print and electronic media, officials of the SAARC secretariat and expatriate Bangladesh nationals residing in Kathmandu.
